We've been following the subtle progress of London's Psychic Markers for a while now here at TMR. Moving on from 2018's hazy slow-burner 'Dreaming' and its swooning counterpart 'Fields of Abstraction', the self-described "cosmic outsiders"' new single 'Silence In The Room' is a considerably more propulsive outing. Marking the start of a new album campaign with Bella Union, 'Silence In The Room' is a glittering preface to their forthcoming self-titled LP. Setting glacial synthesizers against a restless bass line, precise beats create an infectious energy as yet seen by the band. Conjuring nuances of Kraftwerk's Trans-Europe Express with their innovative use of sound effects and processed vocals, 'Silence In The Room' bursts unexpectedly into uplifting intersections that make you feel lighter than air before gently lowering back down to earth. Psychic Markers will arrive on the 29th of May. -Holly Mullineaux
